This is an on-going, expansive field installation of material one-word poems.
Poetry is about emphasis, of either an emotion or an idea. Graves use a minimalist format to communicate information with a tremendous amount of emphasis: an entire life and identity. They are one sided monuments, tablets with a name and two dates, occasionally with a symbol or two. These imagined sites are created to accumulate and create associations among viewers, perhaps touching on current politics, tragedies, successes, grief, nostalgia, or childhood memories through combining material, verbal, and sensory poetic formulas.
